Navy SEAL with PTSD needs your help in paying for the training and vet care for his service dog in training.

'Sunny', a Navy SEAL deployed to Afghanistan, needs your help. A few months ago, he made the step forward to confront his symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. Sunny is now matched with a German Shepard named, BRISA. Brisa has basic command sets, but needs specialized training to help Sunny with specific symptoms of PTSD. Sunny and Brisa will work together under the direction of a professional dog trainer so that necessary skills can be learned. Some of the skills Brisa will be trained to do that will help Sunny are: wake him from recurrent violent nightmares, remind Sunny to take his medication, and provide a reliable, viligant companion that has his back and will allow Sunny to finally let down his guard.
Normally, the cost associated with as service dog is $20-25K, however we are trying something new in pairing soldiers with capable dogs and allowing the bond to form during the service dog training. This significantly reduces the costs and allows the solider to take an active part in training his own dog to be a support to him in his effort to overcome PTSD. We believe this method overcomes barriers of cost and allows therapy to begin the day the soldier is matched with his dog. However, there are costs still associated and we need your help to allow this program to continue. We pay for the dog, professional training and vet care for the first year. Please help us keep our program moving forward by helping our first local client in training his dog.
