Support building innovation skills in our youth! ILDI teams have worked for months solving mind-bending Challenges and have qualified to compete with students from around the world at DI Global Finals. They need our financial help to get there!

We are eager to spread the good news! On April 10th, 30 Illinois Destination ImagiNation teams qualified to join 7000+ competitors from across the world at the University of Tennessee for our Global Finals Tournament, May 26-May 30! This achievement represents months to years of hard work and perseverance on the part of these students and their teachers and Team Managers. Their participation has been building innovation skills though enhanced teamwork and creative problem solving. These students are inspiring and need our help to get to the competition for a life-changing experience.

As the Illinois State Champions, they will bring their solutions and make presentations for one of the following Challenges:
• The DIrect DIposit Challenge required mechanical engineering to design and build a device to deliver objects over a 6 foot wall to targets they cannot see. Their presentation is about cost benefit/risk reward.
• The DI-Bot Challenge incorporates design and creation of a robot incorporated into a story about how technology affects our lives.
• You’re Gonna Flip Challenge focuses on fine arts and incorporates a team created puppet and a presentation about change in perspective.
• Do or DI Challenge is improvisational theater where the teams select a random combination of endangered items and characters that they have researched.
• Breaking DI News is the structural engineering Challenge where the teams have created structures of only newsprint and glue. They test the structure with weights while telling a news-breaking story from another country.
• Project Outreach—Band Together is the service learning Challenge where teams design and create their own project, partner with another organization, and make a difference in their community. Their Multi Sensory Effect presentation incorporates music and was inspired by musical group, MAE (www.whatismae.com).

Teams will also test their “thinking on their feet skills” in a competitive Instant Challenge. More importantly, they will spend 4 days immersed in a college environment, surrounded by academic excellence; and they will be celebrated for working hard, working smart and solving a complex challenge. An added benefit is that they are serving as an inspiration for the younger students in their school who competed but did not qualify-----this year!

These students have done their job. Now it is our turn. We are seeking funds to pay for their travel expenses and registration fees for this life-changing event. We know that budgets are tight yet we hope many individuals and organizations will be inspired and be able to help.
