Garrett was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma in November 2009. He went through 6 rounds of chemo, radiation, stem cell transplant, anti-body treatment, and multiple surgeries. In January 2011 we got the wonderful news that his scans showed No Evidence of Disease. We were thrilled, and very thankful! He had been such a trooper and fought so hard during treatment, and we were ready for him to get to do the normal little boy stuff. Garrets follow up scans were clear for the next 12 months. He was feeling great and doing the things he loved. In late June 2012 Garrett started to complain of shoulder pain. We thought it might be muscle pain from throwing the baseball. During his July scans they found evidence of Neuroblastoma. A few days later the bone marrow aspiration confirmed his relapse. He started his chemotherapy treatment a week later and has handled it well. It is outpatient which helps a lot. He has treatment every 2 weeks Mon-Fri in clinic. We will have another set of scans mid to to late October to see his progress. Despite the treatment schedule, he hasn't missed a day of school. He is our little hero! He continues to touch our lives and inspire us every day. We feel comfort that God has chosen him for a reason.. The Grider Family
