We are trying to raise money for travel expenses for James to see a specialist, we are unsure how long of a stay we have ahead of us.

James has a disorder called hyperinsulinism.

Hyperinsulinism is a group of genetic disorders that cause hypoglycemia in infants and children. Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar. Hyperinsulinism is a very rare condition, only 1/25,000 to 1/50,000 babies are born with this. Very few facilities have the equipment and specialists necessary to diagnose and offer the best treatment for this disease. HI is where the pancreas produces too much insulin which results in persisten/recurring hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)

If children don't get the proper treatment or if left untreated this disease can cause seizures, brain damage, coma and even death. This can lead to permanent brain damage causing kids to lead a much more difficult life. Prompt diagnosis and aggressive treatment are crucial in the fight against this disease. Children with this disease need constant care which includes, blood sugar checks, regular feeding schedules, and administering medicine. (More information on this disease can be found at

Many endocrinologists feel like they can properly treat this disorder which isn't the case. There are very few Hyperinsulinism Specialists worldwide. There on only 2 hyperinsulinism centers in the United States. One is CHOP (in Philiadelphia) and the other one is Cooks (which is in Texas).

My husband and I are trying to come up with money to get our son to one of these centers to receive the proper treatment. The insurance is willing to cover the medical costs but we need money for the cost of transportation there and back and money for myself and my husband to eat on while there. We are unsure how long we will be there, we have been informed by other moms that typical stays for a baby with this disease can last upwards to 3 months.

We would like to extend our thanks in advance for any donations. God bless y'all.
