This is the Jacob Bone Marrow Transplant Fund. Funds will be used for medical costs and related expenses not covered by insurance.

Jacob was diagnosed with Stage 4A Hodgkin's Lymphoma in December of 2009. He started 2010 off with continuous surgeries and treatments including chemotherapy, radiation, and occupational therapy due to chemotherapy side effects. He was doing well and in remission for almost two years when in May of this year we received the devastating news that not only had his cancer returned but this time around it is in 6 parts of his body and he will need a bone marrow transplant. Since July, Jacob has undergone numerous surgeries, blood and platelet transfusions, contiuous chemotherapy and is not even half way through his treatment plan. All of this while dealing with devastating personal side effects and knowing there is no cure just longer durations between remission periods. During his treatments in 2010 we were fortunate enough to have help from various foundations to help with day to day expenses, (gas, parking, food while inpatient, etc.) because Jacob was 16. However, he is now 19 and legally an "adult" which disqualifies him from many of the support he was eligible for in the past. Jacob's insurance only covers 80% of his medical coverage and with the bone marrow transplant quickly approaching (currently scheduled for 10/29) we're trying to maintain as much normalcy in every facet of his life as possible. During his 2010 fundraisers we were able to donate all proceeds to the sponsored foundations and to helping those in need. This time around we are "those in need" As you can imagine, this unexpected family crisis continues to take quite a toll on Jacob, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. Yet in true Jacob spirit he puts on a smile, greats everyone with cheerful laughter and forges ahead knowing this is a lifelong battle. His chemotherapy inpatient stays are always a full week long however his bone marrow transplant will have him in the hospital for three weeks or more. We know Jacob loves his friends and family immensely and would love to hear from you. Please send any cards, well wishes, of if you prefer to donate directly by sending a check to: Jacob Thompson 1655 Willow Street Norristown, PA 19401 With all of our love and infinite appreciation, Jacob's Care Team
