There will be marks of the earthquake on the bodies and hearts of the people of Haiti for years to come, but these marks will tell a story of survival in the midst of devastation, together we'll help the relief effort and be witness to those stories.

As you may be aware, the situation in Haiti remains quite desperate. We are asking for your contribution to help fund our trip to Fond Parisien, a small town just out side of Port-au-Prince, where we'll enlist as relief workers in a field hospital. Working in union with a nonprofit, Hands of Light in Action, we'll be helping to provide rehabilitation to the residents of the American Refugee Committee’s Camp Hope, an Internally Displaced Persons camp with approximately 2,500 displaced residents. This population includes approximately 200 patients who require medical services in order to fully recover lost function. If not treated properly in a timely manner, these injuries could result in 3 generations of people with permanent and preventable disabilities. Here's a note from each of us: For nearly 8 months now I've been ruminating on the desire to help the people of Haiti in their climb towards recovery. We so often get snagged on the obstacles of manifesting change in and around our lives, blinding ourselves from the beauty of choice. Well, that's enough of that. This will be my first stay of disaster relief work and I can tell you with certainty that I'm excited, determined and nervous as hell. I'd launch on a gusto fueled lecture of Haiti's extreme condition to gain your support - but you already know the tune of that story. The simplest truth of the matter is we're all in this blender together, you've got to help your neighbors, and I mean that in the greatest sense of the word. Your financial and moral support means more to me than I can express, I can't wait to tell you everything upon my return, please help me cultivate a little bit of change with your donation. Thank you, Thank YOU, THANK YOU! Yours in gratitude, Steph - - - - - - - - - In April, I was blessed with the opportunity to witness and enter into the sorrow and devastation of post-earthquake Haiti. My heart broke time and again as I listened to stories of loss and destruction, but more than anything I count myself a grateful witness of hope and resilience. Now, eight months later I find myself with the opportunity to return for another short trip and my heart skips at the idea of reuniting with patients from the field hospital and to do the kind of work that makes me come alive. I am so so thankful for your financial and prayerful support. Thank you for helping me to do the work that makes my heart come alive. For that, I am forever grateful. All my gratitude, Shannon - - - - - - - - - - We'd truly appreciate your donation, anything you can muster to send our way will be a gargantuan help. Seriously, we're taking good vibes, mosquito survival tips, astronaut food (we love freeze dried cherries!), those nifty pants with reinforced knees and of course any amount of dollars you can spare. Here's where your generous donations will be going:

  • Air fare for each of us, that's the doozie
  • Food for two for seven days
  • Transportation once in Port-au-Prince
  • Medical Evacuation Insurance
  • Bug spray, lots of bug spray.
We thank you in advance from the bottoms of our shoe laces for your amazing support. Sincerely, Stephanie and Shannon
