The Westmoor Baseball family and friends/family of David Lait are uniting to raise money to help with his fight against bone cancer.

Hello everyone, David is hopefully coming home today (5/17) after completing his second round of chemo. it seems that this round was a a little easier for him as it was a different, less aggressive form of the drug. He is still in great spirits and it seems that his positive attitude remains as strong as ever. I wanted to attach a couple links from recent news media throughout the Bay Area regarding David and his fight. Thank you as always for all the support, love and prayers!

Due the very generous donations of various clubs at westmoor high school (Poly Club, Track Club, Class of 2013, FBLA, Rita Peppers and the women in cafeteria) and all the individual donations by staff members and students at westmoor, we have now been able to deposit over $800 to the trust in David’s name at wells Fargo. This money is in addition to growing amount reflected here on the web site! thank you everyone and God Bless!

(DUE TO THE TREMENDOUS OUTPOURING OF LOVE AND GENEROSITY WE HAVE EXPERIENCED, DAVID'S FUNDRAISER HAS ALREADY SURPASSED ITS INITIAL GOAL OF $5000. ON BEHALF OF THE FAMILY, WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT, AND LET YOU KNOW THAT DAVID READS YOUR MESSAGES OF GENEROSITY DAILY.

WE ARE CHANGING OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL IN THE HOPES OF NOT ONLY RAISING MONEY FOR AIRFARE FOR DAVID'S MOTHER, BUT ALSO TO HELP HIS GUARDIAN FAMILY OFFSET MOUNTING MEDICAL COSTS.

THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE. THIS HAS BEEN A BRIGHT SILVER LINING IN THIS CHALLENGING TIME OF NEED FOR DAVID AND HIS FAMILY.)

David Lait is a 16-year-old student athlete at Westmoor High School. David plays baseball for Westmoor, and was recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma. Originally from the Marshall Islands in the Pacific, David moved to the United States in 2006 to seek a better education, and has been living with his guardian family ever since.

Our immediate goal is to pay for airfare for his birth mother and father to fly from the Marshall Islands to be at his side. But there will certainly be ongoing need in the months to come. In addition to rising medical costs, gas expenses will also mount quickly for his guardian family as they travel daily, sometimes multiple times a day from Pacifica to the David's treatment facility in Santa Clara.

David is in great spirits, and started his first round of chemotherapy the morning of April 22nd. His treatment will be 7-10 months, starting with three months of chemotherapy, followed by a bone/knee-replacement surgery, and then more chemo.
