My Mom is suffering from a rare form of lung cancer. The desease is advancing rapidly and her ONLY hope now is an expensive drug from the US.

My Mom Razina Valiullina was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic lung cancer of unknown origin in October 2011, at the age of 54. The doctors in Russia, where my Mom is from, could not find the primary tumor, and they started chemotherapy thinking that it will help kill the cancer cells in her lungs. Eight months of excruciatingly painful chemotherapy did not give any results. Russian doctors gave up and Mom was getting weaker and weaker every day. To get an alternative opinion we found a clinic in Germany and flew Mom there to run tests. The results were shocking. They found an advanced tumor in her right lung that doctors in Russia missed. It turned out to be a very rare type of lung cancer that doesn’t respond to chemotherapy. If only we knew that before, we wasted so much time. According to doctors, the only medicine that can help my Mom is Xalkori (crizotinib) by Pfizer. It is a new drug that is only approved for sale in the United States. And it is very expensive. A month supply costs $12,000. It is extremely painful to see Mom getting worse each day. The cough is killing her, and she gets short of breath just getting around the house. She used to be such a positive and energetic person, full of love for her family and friends. Her two little grandsons adore her and always want to come over and play. But she can’t play with them. She spends most of her days in bed. She has been fighting for so long that now she feels like she is ready to give up the battle. We cannot let her do that knowing that there is a medicine that can help her. We are asking humbly for the donations. For Russia $12,000 a month is an enormous amount of money. The average monthly salary hardly exceeds $500. My Mom is retired and her health insurance will not pay for the medicine. We have used up all the savings by now and hope is the only thing we have left.    Aysylu Valiullina, a loving daughter of Razina, and the Valiullina family
