This is Leo's Kidney Transplant/Dialysis Fund. The funds will be strictly be used for his medical costs and related expenses. God Bless!

Leo found out in 2007 that he had chronic kidney disease. In an attempt to slow the progression of this disease, doctors put Leo on many different meds including immunosuppresant drugs. After a few years of frequent blood draws and many doctor appointments, Leo and his family learned that his kidney failure had progressed and it was time to go into surgery and have a hemo-catheter implanted into his chest. Within days of that surgery Leo started the dialysis treatments which take up at least 3 hours of his day, 6 days per week. This did not prevent Leo from working as an electrical apprentice, as he's a very determined, resposible, strong man. After a couple of months of the dialysis treatment, common side effects started occuring. Leo suffered from and was hospitalized 3 times in July-August of 2012 due to blood clots. One near his catheter and another in his lung. This prevented him from working for about 3 weeks all together. Leo is a wonderful husband and father of 4 beautiful young children (2 boys, 2 girls). His wife, Connie, has been enrolled in college and pursuing degree, while also being the home-maker, taking care of the house and motherly duties. Due to Leo's sickness, Connie has also been working a part time job to help with the rent and other bills in order to maintain their home. Part time is the only thing that works due to having 4 children from age 4 to 11. It has been a TREMENDOUS struggle for the whole family! Now all of the bills are starting to pile up, as Leo's medicare only pays for PART of his medical expenses. In order to keep his Medicare, Leo must come up with around $700 for his premium. He has been told that this premium MUST be paid in order to keep his home-dialysis machine and keep recieving the neccesary supplies needed for his treatment. The family is also patiently waiting for a kidney donor to be matched with Leo so that he can recieve a new kidney and carry on with life. Once his surgery is done, he will be out of work for around a month to heal and recover. But as of now, the transplant surgery could take anywhere from 6 months to 5 years to take place. The family and friends are praying everyday for a miracle! So any help would be SO greatly appreciated! If you'd like to send a check instead or make a direct payment to a medical bill, rent, etc, feel free to contact Connie at 402-450-4037, WoundedArrows Family 6630 Starr Street Lincoln, NE 68505
