Tobey, a 10-year-old Pug, needs a surgery to correct a Luxating Patella on his back leg.

Tobey is a 10-year-old Pug whom I've had since he was 8 weeks old. About 3 years ago, his veterinarian told me that he has a Luxating Patella (a condition in which the kneecap literally "pops" out of place when he walks) on his back left leg and he required surgery. Unfortunately, the cost was prohibitive: upwards of $1,500. For the past 3 years, we've kept it under control with pain medications and supplements. However, his new vet has given me the same prognosis and said that, if he doesn't have surgery in the near future (within the next year-at most), he will get worse and worse. My boyfriend and I have already begun a "Tobey Fund" of our own; I set aside whatever I can from each paycheck. But with the overwhelming amount of student loan debt and other bills, it is becoming very difficult to add to this. Normally, I would never ask anyone else for money; I'd simply wait until I had the means. I'm just so afraid that Tobey will suffer if I cannot get his surgery in time (especially since doing it when he's older makes it riskier and more difficult for him to heal). I would never dream of asking for the full amount. I don't expect anything honestly; this is a shot in the dark. There are certainly more dire situations that people could give to and I understand that. If anyone wants to give, I appreciate it. If you cannot, I totally understand.
