The family and friends of Doc (Donnie Ray) Johnson are uniting to raise money to help with medical cost and related expenses.

Doc had a stroke sometime in the early morning hours on Thursday May 24, 2012. This started with a weeks stay at Johnson City Medical Ctn. and he was discharged to Quillan Rehabilitation Center for P.T. I decide to place him at Appalachian Christian Village, since that is more convenient for me and the family. Doc has a $3400.00 out of pocket expense with his Humana Insurance. I brought him home Memorial Day weekend, but he ended back in the hospital and was not discharged to home until July 2, 2012. This is his third stroke and it has effected his vision. speech, and mobility. His out of pocket cost for his insurance is $3400.00 to continue his care in a long term care facility.

No one understands how hard it is to care for someone at home without support, until you go through the process with your own family. The fund we are trying to raise will be used for medical expenses not covered by insurance, other related doctor bills and cost as living expeneses. I have not worked my new job long enough to qualify for F.M.L.A., and I have found myself unemployed as of July 11, 2012. He is now receiving home health care and is improving in his speech, walking, and vision.

With Doc's Insurance he never comes out of the do-nut hole for his prescription medications. I am required to pay $4000.00 of his prescription medications a year. Even though we may now qualify for help it may not be available until a couple of more months down the road.

We are so grateful for all the prayers and support given by our church family, friends and neighbors thus far, so if you want to know what you can do to help, support this cause and get the word out! Please like and post on your social page.

I have always had respect for the caregivers that I work with, they have now earned more of my respect for going beyond a job well done, of not only being a companion, but a trusted person the patient feels comfortable in receiving their personal and medical care.

Thank so much for your prayers and support for Doc' s recovery, Please continue to pray for him and his family that he may be able to recover soon.

Love, Doc and Pamela
