My five week old kitten has to have surgery to remove her eyes because of infection and ruptures.

Boots my four week and five day old kitten was found outside underneath a very old house on top of a door at two o'clock in the morning during a rainstorm on July 30, 2012. She was abandoned by her mother. Immediately I took her in. I had been asking my fiance for several months if I could have a kitten or a puppy because I never really had a pet when I was little and he always told me that it wasn't the right time. He fell in love with her the instant he saw her and told me I could keep her. I bottle fed her and kept her in a box with some really fuzzy pajama pants and a fuzzy stuffed turtle. I called a vet because her eyes were crusted shut and they told me that was normal for newborn kittens and that they're eyes don't fully open till they are 8 days old, Needless to say I didn't know how old she was so I only thought she was a few days old. The vet told me to get a warm washcloth and soak her eyes and the crusting should get softer and go away and eventually she would open her eyes. I did this for two weeks and this yellowish whitish stuff continued to come out of her poor little eyes and get worse. Everyone told me it was normal, but I was still very concerned. I took her to the vet on August 18, 2012 with 30 dollars to my name and asked them for help, because I knew my poor little kitten was in pain and I didn't know how to help her. They told me it would be 30 dollars for the visit, 27 for the antibiotics, 19 for eye ointment, 9 for nutri-cal (calorie gel) to make her gain weight and, 5 for her deworming. I explained to them the situation and they understood immediately and took her back to see a vet. Every vet in the animal hospital looked at her and not one of them charged me a fee. They cleaned out her eyes and told me she had a very bad eye infection and that it went behind her eyes and caused her eyes to rupture, permanent blindness, and that if they change or she got more eye infections in the future she would have to have her eyes removed. I paid the thirty dollars and they opened up and account and a file for me and Boots so that we could pay the other thirty dollars later this month. They determined her birthday by her teeth and it was July 21, 2012... She was 8 days old when I found her and I was just a little to late. They also told me she weighed 4 ounces and that she should weigh about 12 ounces and that the reason she was so underweight was because of the infection. She has gained a lot of weight since then and was feeling a lot better until yesterday when her ruptures started drying out and irritating her. They swelled up twice they're normal size and turned red. On August 24, 2012 I called the vet and they told me to bring her in on August 27, 2012 to check up and schedule surgery to remove her eyes. She's a fighter. She's been underweight, sick, and permanently blind, yet she still plays, eats, purrs, meow's, gives love bites, and loves to be handled... How can I give up on something so full of life when she hasn't given up on herself.
