This request is to assist in obtaining treatment for a polio survivor that is now facing Post Polio Syndrome effects

Many people from my age group remember the scare created by the polio epidemic; I am one of those survivors. My story is simple and to the point I was totally paralysis from the neck down and recovery was based on treatment of whirlpool baths and massage therapy existing muscles by trained staff and family members for periods up to an hour and half three to four times a week over many years and contrary to doctors of that time recommendation. This form of treatment was commonly known as the Sister Kenny Method and originally endorsed by Franklin D. Roosevelt as evident of his creation of the Warm Springs Treatment Center a foundation that would go on to provide treatment of this nature for the many polio victims era in a similar fashion. As a result of this treatment I recovered nearly 85% usage of my limbs and overall body function ending only being required to wear leg braces on both legs for the remainder of my life a prediction made by doctors that by accepting this treatment over theirs's I would never walk. As my story goes this disability over the past 58 years was originally support financially by the March of Dimes up to the age of 21 and then my own medical coverage with assistance towards payment of treatments and prosthetics.I no longer am eligible to receive their financial support as it became my own responsibility to handle the financial portion of the cost, although my medical insurance covers would cover purchases of leg braces or physical therapy and not massage therapy. Here I am years later now being diagnosed what is being referred to as Post Polio Syndrome a major effect on survivors of the original devastating effects of polio and forced to retire on a disability through Social Security and no longer able to afford my chosen form of therapy. What was once remaining good muscle tissue is now deteriorating and eventually will be leaving me totally disabled in time. You can find more on the symptoms by reading about the effects of PPS by visiting sites such as:

As a result of the onset of this normal physical therapy treatments does not produce the delay in the furthering of reduction of muscular breakdown. I find that receiving massage therapy as opposed to physical therapy produces the relief for pain and loosing of tighten muscles. But no medical insurance will cover such treatment as it is not considered medically acceptable form of treatment. I believe that what brought me to point of ability to walk and interact in society will slowdown the oncoming effects of PPS. I cannot afford treatment and searching for assistance to begin this format and reduce the effects and pain currently suffering. Thank you for your time and consideration and I am willing to answer any and all questions.
