I have a friend named Criss who has been in severe and debilitating back pain for over 13 years now.

They had three ruptured discs along their back in the L1, L2, and L5-S1 since they were 17. Because they were thin, doctors ignored their complaints of back pain and thought that Criss was only attention seeking. Criss recently had a back surgery at the L5-S1 region and the surgery went successfully I am happy to say. Criss is planning to have their second surgery before December when their parent's insurance runs out. Criss will not be able to have their surgeries once their parent's insurance runs out and that is where I would like your help. Criss is on disability due to their back problems and mental health and can't possibly afford any surgeries. I am not sure what else to do but to ask the public to help in whatever way they can.

A little about Criss: Criss is 30 years old and has never worked due to being on disability since they were 19. They enjoy crocheting, music, cats, and learning. Criss's goal is to become a phlebotomist after gaining full mobility without regular use of pain medication to get through the day.

As of right now, after the first surgery Criss gained more mobility of their lower back and legs, but are still limited to being able to stand only 10-15 minutes at a time, sitting for only an hour or two at a time, and lying down for only 2-6 hours at a time often hurting after just 30 minutes and gradually getting worse. They can only walk for about 8-20 minutes before having to stop and rest. Their ruptured discs along with Lumbar Degenerative Disease, Sciatica and Arthritis are what cause the immense pain. This pain often travels up Criss's neck and shoulders and causes a constant underlying headache that turns into an intense migraine when exposed to bright light or certain sounds.

Criss needs three more surgeries to correct their back pain and ruptured discs. Criss also is needing arthritis injections to help with knee and neck pain. After each surgery Criss would need about 4-6 months of physical therapy. The contributions collected would be applied to the costs of the three remaining surgeries, Physical Therapy, Arthritis injections, and medications that Criss cannot afford. I thank anyone who makes even a small contribution and I wish you all well. Thanks in advance.
