The friends of Amy Daniels are working to raise money to help her in her battle against breast cancer. Please help in any way you can!

Our beautiful friend Amy is fighting for her life. In February of this year, Amy was diagnosed with aggressive metastatic breast cancer. She was told that the disease was quite advanced, and that surgery in her case was not an option.

She and her husband Eric consulted several doctors in southern California, and the outlook was not terribly optimistic. Although Amy and Eric's home is in California, Amy has temporarily relocated to Arizona. There are only approximately 40 doctors in the country that offer a highly specialized treatment for her specific type of cancer and none are in California. One of these doctors is in Phoenix. This seems to be her only hope for remission, and in fact the latest test results are hopeful.

The couple does have health insurance but it only pays approximately 40% of the $16,000.00 per month cost of Amy's medical expenses. They also have the burden of travel expenses as her husband travels back and forth as often as he can.

In 1999 Eric was diagnosed with prostate cancer. As we all know, a catastrophic illness in a family can be financially devastating. The family used all of their life savings to save his life and as of today he remains asymptomatic. Amy and Eric's 19-year-old daughter Zoie, is currently completing the final months of her education to obtain her teaching credential which was being financed through a grant. Recently Zoie unexpectedly lost the grant, leaving her parents with another unexpected and significant expense.

Amy and Eric are hard working people. Eric works as much overtime as possible, although an on-the-job injury while fighting a house fire in December 2011 placed him on light duty for 7 months. Amy is currently unable to work while receiving treatment, and as a hairstylist she will need to rebuild her clientele when she is able to return to work. They do not want to have to ask for help, but at this point there is no choice.

Many of Amy and Eric's friends and coworkers have made a valiant effort to fundraise and contribute in other ways. My husband David and I (both professional actors) did a reading of a play. Amy's co-workers at a beauty salon have held numerous fundraising cut-a-thons, garage sales, and raffles. Eric's co-workers have volunteered to cover Eric's shifts so that he does not have to take vacation time that he may need in the future. But the costs are still overwhelming.

Within the next few months they will be out of funds to continue her treatments.

I asked Amy what she hoped for, "I want to fulfill my daughter's wish to 'keep fighting and be present on her wedding day'."  I want so much for her to have that wish.  If you can help, in even the smallest way, you will be helping a beautiful and generous wife and mother fight for the chance to be there for their daughter on her wedding day.
