Raise money for Ronald Poppo
The community of Miami is raising money for Ronald Poppo's, medical fund. The funds will be used for Ronald's medical and surgical costs.
Ronald Poppo was the victim of a tragic and horrific mauling. 80% of his face was eaten and rippped apart when Rudy Eugene suddenly, and without provocation, attacked Ronald on the causeway in Miami Beach. He was punched, bitten, dragged, and had his pants ripped off of him, while the attacker ate away at his face, without cause. Ronald Poppo was napping when he was attacked. He was napping in that location because he was homeless. The members of his homeless community said he was smart and kept to himself. He liked to listen to a small radio while he napped. His tragic fate took him from being a hardworking student in NYC to a life where he roamed the streets under a hot sun, delirious, hungry, and ill. And this was his ending: being mauled and viciously cannibalized in public. Don't let this be his ultimate ending. You have the power to change it. Show him caring and kindness. Donate whatever you can. No amount is too small! And most of all, please leave some words of love or a virtual hug. The messages will be read aloud to Mr. Poppo at the end of this fundraiser.
This website automatically sends this to Jackson Memorial in a special fund for his reconstructive surgeries and pain care. I am now teaming up with the Jackson Memorial donation website and Mr. Fredo Gonzalez at Give Forward who has started another doonation site for Mr. Ronald Poppo. Any additional funds left over after medical bills will be provided to Mr. Poppo or his guardian to be used for his extended care, housing, pain medication throughout his life, and psychiatric care. Please either donate this this site or to Jackson via Fredo Gonzalez at http://www.giveforward.com/ronaldpopporecovery. Both funds will be joined and sent to Jackson Memorial on August 31, 2012!!!
Remember, if the victim was a 10 year old kid, there would have been an outpouring of support and kindness. He has no one to help him but us, his neighbors, the public, humanity.
I have also contacted Jackson Memorial hospital to volunteer my time reading, speaking, and spending time with Ronald Poppo. I am hoping that they can let me just sit with him, hold his hands, and tell him that people care. I will keep you guys informed of any and all updates.
In the meantime, let's donate some funds to get him the medical care that he deserves. Thank you for all your donations and support. I expect to pass through this world but once. "Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again."-- Stephen Grellet
