Help us bring the gift of literacy to children around the world.

The Kind Hearts School is a Child Aid Development Organization in Sebeta, Ethiopia. It is a place of refuge for children in especially difficult situations. 58% of Ethiopians, 15 and above, can't read. Help us to change that by introducing literature into the hands of Africa's most poverty stricken children.  Most schools in Ethiopia have NO books.  At the Kind Hearts School, philanthropists from around the world have worked hard to meet the survival needs of these small children.  The children are fed, clothed, and given a Christian education.  Projects are under way to provide clean water, bathroom facilities, and a functional kitchen.  These children have been blessed with the support of families far away.  Because of their experience at Kind Hearts, it is quite possible that they may break free from the generational poverty that has devastated their community.  By providing for these children's physiological needs, these children now have the opportunity to learn and thrive.   Help us to provide unlimited learning opportunities for these children by stocking their shelves with literature from around the world.  With your help, a child that has never ventured beyond the village gates, will experience life without boundaries.

Why |'präməs|?

Experiences of poverty happen everyday in America; in our own communities, some of us even experiencing poverty in our own home. Working with children in poverty, I thought I had seen the worst. That was until, I came to know the children of Ethiopia. While in Ethiopia, we were blessed to visit a 'school'. The school was a safe haven, a place to be fed, loved, and taught. However, this school had no running water, no bathroom facilities, no kitchen, and NO books! Even without the amenities of a school as we know it, these children were proud to be there and grateful for the opportunity. As we toured the property, we discussed with the director, the group's plan to provide them with clean water and other basic needs. At every plead that the director made for our support, we assured him that God had a plan in our heart and we intended to carry it out, to which he always responded, "You promise?"

So as Robert Frost said, "I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep."
