Hello all. My name is Steve and I am doing this fundraising project for my wife Tammy. April 19, 2009 she fell and suffered a blow to the head. She was taken to a local trauma center where they discovered she had a scalp laceration, TBI (traumatic brain injury), subdural hemotoma (bleed in the brain) brain swelling, and multiple contusions. She was kept in the hospital and was in and out of consciousness for 3 days and was also suffering from seizures (which she had never had before). Once she was released and sent home it was to begin a long process of recovery. A few days after being home she suffered a seizure and was taken back to the hospital and that’s when they discovered weakness and lose of sensation on the right side of her body. At that time, physical/speech/occupational therapy was set up for her all three 3x’s a week ($90 each visit). At the time of the accident she was employed full time as with myself. She carried the health insurance for the both of us as well (which we have to pay $430 a month to keep it going) Now she was only getting 40% of her normal pay and most was going out for therapy appts, a physical medicine rehabilitation dr, a neurophysiologist, and a neurologist once a month also at $30 each visit.

Since the accident we have totally went behind on everything and struggle just to get the basic necessities that we need to live on. Each month we have to pay $90 to see the three doctors, $430 to have health insurance, and about $350 a month for all the medications she needs for seizures ect. This April coming up, she will no longer be able to have the health insurance through her previous employer and mine does not have it for me to get (and right now is not a good time to be “looking” for a new job).

Any amount at all would defiantly help us out, and help her to continue to afford her medications and dr appts that are critical for her recovery. Once the insurance is dropped the meds will be over $1000 a month.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and may god bless you and your families!!
