Family, friends and loved ones of Gary Lescault will be holding a benefit to support Gary and his family, and to bring awareness to HIE.

In October 2011, Gary Lescault suffered cardiac arrest and sustained Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE). HIE is a condition in which the brain does not receive sufficient blood and oxygen. HIE can cause long-term damage, including physical and intellectual disabilities.

While in a coma, Gary’s doctors prepared his family for the worst, stating there was no hope. Today, awake and responsive, Gary resides at the Northeast Center for Special Care in Lake Katrine, New York, 140 miles from his wife JoAnne and daughter Gabby. This devastating neurologic injury has left Gary with many months, possibly years, of intense cognitive, speech and physical therapy to promote his mental and physical wellbeing.

Together, with your support, we can raise awareness to Acquired Brain Injury and HIE, and also raise the funds needed to defray the cost of mounting medical and household bills, as well as travel expenses for Gary’s family.

Family, friends and loved ones held a benefit on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Floyd L. Maines Community Center, 942 Conklin Road, Conklin, NY from 3pm to 8pm. A delicious pasta dinner, along with a basket raffle, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, bake sale and yard sale, bouncehouse and dunk tank, along with a variety of entertainment were among the venues held to raise money for the Lescaults.

Over $9,000 has been raised for the Lescault family, but that isn't enough! Please help support this wonderful family by donating. Monetary donations are still being accepted and will be greatly appreciated. Checks can be made payable to “The Gary Lescault Family Benefit” and mailed to: c/o Susan Zick, PO Box 943, Binghamton, NY 13902.

Please contact Susan Zick at 607-338-7524, szick@smlny.com or Linda Drake at 607-338-7291, ldrake@smlny.com if you have any questions or need further information.

Thank you for supporting The Gary Lescault Family Benefit!

Sincerely,

Susan E. Zick
