Hoping to raise enough money to pay for the leg amputation of a stray dog hit by a car. All help is greatly appreciated.

On Monday 10/22/12, a female stray dog ran out into the road and was struck by a car. She was taken immediately to an emergency vet and was taken in by the Humane Society of St Lucie County. They had to wait the five days to see if she would be claimed, in that time they did everything possible to make sure she was comfortable. She was struck in the hind end and had a deep laceration on the inside of her right hind leg. At the end of the five days, they took x-rays as they noticed she was still not bearing weight on that leg, found out that her knee was shattered and her femur fractured. She is in a lot of pain but her attitude thus far has been nothing but grateful at having people around to visit with her and give her a bit of attention. The recommendation from the specialist was to have her hind leg amputated. Unfortunately the Humane Society is short on funds for such a procedure and can only pay for a percentage of the cost, the rest would need to come from donations. Any small amount would be greatly appreciated so that she can begin her road to recovery and hopefully find a loving forever home.
