From the beginning of high school to the last couple of months, every teenage girl dreams of one thing: Prom. The one night that no matter what has happened in the past, everyone comes together and shares this one night together. For many, this could be the last time to see our peers for which we have spent over 12 years with. The night that takes months to plan, hours to prepare for, and centuries to forget is often taken for granted by so many; however, for those who are not able to attend, it is deeply cherished.
My friend Claire Hayes is seventeen years old. As a freshmen, she was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma bone cancer. After under going chemo and hip replacement surgery, she returned to school in the spring of her sophomore year. She is in her junior year of high school now and this past December, she was diagnosed with Acute Miloid Leukemia and is still being treated. Due to this, she will not be able to attend our school's prom in May.
Our goal is to give Claire the night that she has been dreaming of since her freshmen year. All proceeds will go toward food, decorations, and reminding her of how beautiful she truely is.
