Raising funds for Madison's continued journey against AML battle since 2009.

Raising funds for Madison's continued AML treatments and transplants.  Madison has been battling AML leukemia since 2009. AML is a very rare and aggressive childhood leukemia. AML is a blood cancer which causes healthy red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets to be overtaken and replaced with leukemic cells. About 500 children in the US are diagnosed with AML each year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ***** Click on the blue "UPDATES" TAB above for DAILY UPDATES *****.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FUND RAISING INFO - Madison's battles with AML have been intense requiring aggressive treatment and long-term hospitalization. Her transplant will require extensive medical care from her comprehensive team of medical and care providers, prescriptions, special diet and sterile environment for the first year, as well as, long-term follow-up care. We are blessed to have great medical insurance, but given the magnitude of medical care and treatment that Madison has required since 2009, we have had and will continue to have substantial medical related expenses throughout Madison's lifetime. Madison's medical expenses are GREATLY amplified by the LENGTH and LEVEL of care required, as well as, by the NUMBER of SPECIALISTS required - which have ranged between 3 and 15+ specialists depending on the care she requires at any given time. She has been hospitalized numerous times (approximately 200+ days). Madison's CARE TEAM has included: oncologists, cardiologists, transplant specialists, transplant coordinator, surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiologists, audiologists, infectious disease specialists, intensivists, pediatricians, generalists, opthamologists, physical therapists, psychologists, nutritionists, and other providers such as palliative care, chemotherapy nurses, intensive care nurses, progressive care nurses, oncology nurses, and home health care providers, among others. Co-pays add up quickly with the need for so many specialists, appointments and prescriptions. Post transplant - it is imperative that Madison's environment be sterile to reduce the risk of post transplant infections and complications which can be life threatening due to a comprised immune system. The post transplant related expenses include: follow-up care, a variety of prescriptions such as immuno-suppressants, anti-rejection, antibiotics and anti-nausea medications, in addition to her current medications, as well as, other expenses related to creating and maintaining the proper diet and environment to best promote a healthy recovery. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you so much for your support, prayers and kindness! We could not do this without you and your encouragement means the world to Madison and our family! "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding" Proverbs 3:5
