Hoglind Family Memorial Fund -- Please help Dana and Courtney recover from the loss of Dana's sister, Susan Hoglind.

My friend Dana and her daughter have suffered a terrible loss. Dana's sister and best friend, Susan, passed away suddenly on Sunday morning, just two days after being released from a nursing home. Susan was stable and in good spirits and they were all looking forward to beginning a new life together. Susan was a kind and compassionate person with great spirit and determination. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Even though she had been dealing with health issues for many years, she never lost that spark and was devoted to her sister and niece. Dana is the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to a friend or family member, and the past few years have been very difficult for the whole family as they struggled through the recession and Susan's medical expenses and care. Through all of this hardship, Dana has been working overtime and trying to support the family. In order to enable Courtney to continue her dance lessons, Dana was doing odd jobs after work to help pay for her tuition. Things were finally starting to look up, they were catching up on all the bills, and planning on moving into a new apartment as a family. But now, not only has Dana lost her sister and Courtney her aunt and "second mom," but they have been left in a desperate financial situation due to Susan's sudden passing. Beyond the grief of losing their family member, the most painful thing for Dana and Courtney right now is that they lack the means to make final arrangements for Susan. With funeral home expenses, moving expenses, and taking over Susan's financial obligations, Dana and Courtney are in desperate need of help to see them through this difficult time. The basic mortuary expenses alone will be $2400, to finally lay Susan to rest. Please consider helping Dana and Courtney however you can, whether it is by donating a small amount or sharing this fundraiser with your friends.
