The Corbin Foundation will continue to help other Trisomy 13 families in need. Corbins legacy of Hope, Faith and Inspiration will live on..
Since Corbin gained his Angel wings, we have decided to utilize the funds to assist other Trisomy families in need. We have so far donated over $9,000 in Corbins name to T13 familes for tuition, medical supplies not covered by insurance and to help with funeral expenses for another T13 baby who gained their angel wings.
Corbin Alfred McHenry was diagnosed in utero with a rare genetic condition called Trisomy 13. Trisomy 13 is the presence of an extra 13th chromosome, three instead of the normal two. Trisomy 13 affects nearly every organ in the body and babies diagnosed with this conditioned are deemed "Incompatible with life" by doctors.
Corbin was already battling this harsh statistic in utero but at 32 weeks gestation he decided to bless this Earth. He was now battling prematurity and this rare genetic anomaly.
His parents, Kara and Shane McHenry were given a less than 1% chance that their son would be born alive. But on April 4, 2013 Corbin stunned the doctors and was born both breathing and crying.
Next they claimed he would only live hours but hours turned to days. Since days have turned to weeks and weeks have turned to months. Corbin is now 100+days old, has undergone multiple surgeries, lives with a trach, g-tube and is vent dependent but he is alive and he is happy.
Corbin has showed the world so much. He is an everyday example of how fragile life can really be. He reminds us all to be strong, have will power, and to fight. His parents have shared his story with the world to bring awareness to Trisomy so that other parents who may undergo this same situation may have a glimpse of hope.
Money raised will go to Corbin's fund which helps with travel, medical expenses, the financial hardship on their family since Corbin's mother is unable to work, and will also go to Corbin's needs once he ONE DAY comes home :)
Thank you for supporting us as we help Corbin on his journey through life!
