Join me as I embark on an adventure, with my fellow teachers...a journey. A journey to bring the solitude of a story to villages in Africa.

Hi friends! As most of you already know, the past three years have been quite a journey for me. I have watched God prove himself faithful time and time again. I have watched Him walk with me through single motherhood, cancer, and now a new marriage and move to St. Joseph, MO. I have been blessed by many of you through prayers, encouragement, love, friendship, and support (both emotionally and financially). I have been given much and now its my turn to start giving back.

An opportunity has come that will allow me to travel to Africa with a team of fellow teachers to bring books as well as other educational supplies to the children and teachers in Uganda. As you know, a trip like this doesn't come cheaply. Each teacher that is going must raise $3000 in order to be able to go. There are various checkpoint dates where specific amounts are needed. The first one is by January. I will need $700 in my account to secure the flight over there. I am aware that many of you have helped financially in the past while I battled breast cancer. It is humbling to ask again for your support and I would not, however, after looking at the pictures of these sweet children and the enormous need there, I feel a strong pull to go. I am stepping out in faith that Christ will path the way financially. My prayer is that you, my dear friends, will be blessed by Him through your support.

Below are some facts about Uganda that you may not have known:

**In Sub-Sahara Africa, 48%of children do not complete primary school.
**Quality education can influence a release from generational poverty.
**Even while in school, most teachers are teaching reading and writing without access to books
**"171 million people could be lifted out of poverty if all children left school with basic reading skills."

We take a lot of things for granted in this country and the least of which is the accessibilty of the written word. The very essence of education is literacy. Yet every day teachers in Africa do their best to provide an education for children while their bookshelves remain empty. While we download books for free to wireless devices and throw our tattered copies away, the African child attempts to glean an education in an environment void of literature.

Please join me as I embark on this adventure to fill bookshelves and enrich minds. Partner with us as we make a commitment to love the whole child and take that child on his own journey...through the pages of a book.
