The friends of Juliana are uniting to raise money to help with her battle against a malignant brain tumor at the base of her brain stem.

Brian and Doris are the proud parents of 5 year old Juliana. On Saturday, March 31, 2012, the Donnelly Family's lives changed forever. Juliana came to her parents and complained of leg pain and general weakness on her right side. Juliana was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where they received devistating news. Their beautiful daughter was diagnosed with a Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). This is a malignant brain tumor at the base of the brain stem inside of what is called the "PONS". There are serveral reasons why this is so devastating:

1. This particular tumor is inoperable because of its location at the base of the brain stem. This area is responsible for breathing, eyesight, and coordination.

2. The tumor has microscopic tentacles that form infiltrating other parts of the brain.

3. There are limited options in dealing with a tumor of this magnitude because there are only 200-300 cases of DIPG diagnosed each year. Both treatment and research studies are very limited.

Juliana spent nearly 2 months at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York where she received radiation therapy. Juliana came home from the hospital in late May. Her tumor shrunk approximately 25% since receiving the radiation. Juliana is full of energy and fights to recover each and every day but she still has an uphill battle ahead of her.

At this time Brian and Doris are researching treatment options that will be best for Juliana. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the Juliana Rose Donnelly Trust in anticipation of the extensive medical bills they will incur to provide the care needed.
