I am raising funds to help the orphans of Haiti with housing, clothing, food and supplies.

Many of you have heard the stories of devastation the people of Haiti have gone through since the earth quake. Even before the earth quake most of the people were living in poverty. It is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere. Alison Meehan and I (Waggener Wildcats!) will be traveling in February, to The Northwest Haiti Christian Mission, which serves thousands of Haitians throughout the region. We will be spending a majority of our time with the Miriam Center, which is an orphanage for disabled children. Disabled children in Haiti are often ostracized and viewed as a curse. Alison has traveled to the Mission several times, but this will be my first time! The stories she’s told me are mostly heartbreaking but there are amazing things happening there too. These children, who have been discarded, are learning that there are people in the world who do care and love them. It takes a very long time for supplies such as food, toiletries and clothing to get to the Mission, if it gets there at all! We will be traveling with as many suitcases as the airline will allow, stuffed with items these children need. We are going to Haiti with the intention of helping those in need. Of course the kids need nourishment, clothing and medical care, but above everything else, they need love... and we are extremely driven to provide just that. Our desire is to allow God to use us to impact others for Him and to meet as many needs as possible. With a bit more time ahead of us, we'd like to see how much money we can raise. Every single cent of this money will go towards helping improve lives there.
