You all know Carri Faber from the Los Angeles punk rock scene!

THAT Carri Faber -

Vinyl Fetish, LA Weekly- Miscarri “La Dee Da”, Poseur, Bleaker Bob’s, Goldenvoice, the Wednesday BBQ's and always out and about in Los Angeles since 1982. We love Carri and her precious sincere smile, magical blue eyes and flaming red hair!

At the end of August, Carri discovered a pelvic lymph node that was enlarged. In the following weeks after seeing an oncologist, a biopsy revealed metastatic tumors in her lymph nodes but the origin was not determined.  Her Doctor ordered a PET scan but her Health Net insurance denied payment, so Carri paid for it herself. It may be what will save her life.

Carri says, "You must be proactive with your own health and insurance companies. Insurance companies that are not non-profit are in business for their shareholders."

After her surgery on September 17, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, - a hysterectomy and removal of three tumors on her kidney, lymph nodes and fallopian tubes - Carri was diagnosed with primary fallopian tube cancer.

PFTC is thought to be a relatively rare primary cancer among women accounting for 1 to 2 percent of all gynecologic cancers.  (In the USA tubal cancer had an incidence of 0.41 per 100,000 women.)  You can read more about this type of cancer here:

She saw her Doctors October 1, 2012 and they are ready to begin her chemotherapy. She will have 6 sessions of four hours starting October 9, 2012 and continuing every three weeks which will take her into mid-February 2013. This will be a long grind of feeling awful and feeling better, energy up and energy down.  So please continue to keep in touch with this energetic, smiling woman and share your positive thoughts and power with her.  As you may or may not know, Carri DOES have medical insurance - BUT, she has to pay for it herself, since she and Brandon are both independent contractors and not covered by another company's insurance policy. The insurance premium is $1,000 per month, and we can assume that Carri is probably not going to be able to return to full time work anytime real soon. So donations to help her cover her monthly medical premium after her surgery will go a long, long way.

This is a long and expensive road and Carri and Brandon need their loving family and friends now more than ever as the bills pile up. Worrying about money never helped anyone get well!!  Please help her cover expenses so that she will continue to receive the help she needs during her extended recovery.  Your generous donations will pay for Carri's insurance, deductibles, co-payments, uncovered treatments, and living expenses during her treatment.  Love is the best medicine so please donate whatever you can and forward this to someone who can afford to help more. No donation is too small and generosity will really pay off. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts and thanks to Andrea Sherritt for setting up this site.  You can contact Andrea at 310.500.7533
