This fundraiser will support funds to help my mother Louisa White, who has Alzheimer's. Help make a difference.

My mom is actually 86 years old,and has been diagnoised with dementia since 2005. I have been the sole provider of her care, and it has been especially a daunting task in the last 2 years. I always hear from others that I am doing the right thing. However, at times I feel as her son that I am not doing enough. No matter how hard I try, I still lose a piece of her due to this illness. It is so hard to watch a family member lose the ability to think and remember. Consequently, there is also the fact that caregiving can be extremely expensive. I want to take the time to honor my mom, by trying to get her the best care possible. However, we both do not have the ability to  meet her present financial needs. She is presently at The Brian Center in Charlotte, NC. She has been a resident there since May, 2010. While the placement there has been difficult for me, I know that it was the right thing to do. She now has a caring staff that will help her with daily meals, medicine reminders, activities, and help getting dressed. There is also a great Activity Director there that takes great care of her.
Also I would like to give a special thanks to Terrie Massey. She takes up so much time with my mom when i am gone for work out of town. She makes sure that my mom has a social connection with a family. There is not a holiday or celebration with her family that my mom has not been a part of. I work in aviation, so when I am off I take the time to visit with her and take her out for short trips or meals in the area. What I would like from everyone who reads this is just to extend a helping hand, it will make a true difference in her life. She has really touched the lives of others by simply investing her time and wisdom with them. Encouraging and speaking as an advoacte that we all must be our very best at any age. Take the time and help me make that same difference for her now. A mother to some, but being from the south really a mother to all because of her wisdom and kindness.
