Family and friends are uniting to raise money for a memorial-social at: Camp Harkness on: 6/09/2012

Armand Legault has been a role model, mentor and leader in advocacy and awareness for people with disabilities his entire life. He was an amazing man with Spinal Muscular Atrophy who lived his life helping many others despite his own disability and chronic health issues.

On January 25, 2012, Armand passed away surrounded by his family and friends. Armand accomplished so much in his lifetime. Before his retirement, he had been employed by the State of CT, Dept. of Revenue Svcs for 32 years and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Newington. Armand was a President of the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc CT Chapter and a board member of both that assoc. as well as CT Developmental Disabilities Council, CT Institute for the Blind-Oak Hill School, CT Independent Living Council, and Camp Harkness Advisory Board and also a member of the Youth Leadership Forum. He was a recipient of the National Personal Achievement Award in 1992 from the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Anyone that had the opportunity to know Armand, would remember his outgoing personality and contagious smile that made you laugh and smile back. He is missed, but his smile and "joie de vivre" (joy for life) will live on in all of us.

Armand enjoyed the outdoors, the beauty of the ocean. You would find him sitting at his favorite "look out" spot at Camp Harkness. He was even known by his friends as "Mayor of Harkness". Since this was Armand's favorite spot, his friends and family would like to do something special by the "look out". We need your help to raise money to stage the event at Camp Harkness for the Disabled on: Sat. June 9, 2012, 11 AM > 7PM.
(301 Great Neck Rd, Waterford CT).
