My name is Rachel and at the age of 18 I was diagnosed with Friedreich's ataxia.

Friedreich's Ataxia (FA) is a neurlomuscular disorder that slowly deteriorates my spinal and peripheral nerves. it is a progressive disease and once symptoms start to appear, they will continue to worsen. Most people with FA eventually are confined to a wheelchair or bed. There is no approved treatment or cure for this disease.

I went from walking for the first 18 or so years of my life to being in a wheelchair all of the time. This all happened in a matter of about 1 year.

I believe that being wheelchair-bound should not define me or distinquish what I can and can't do. I am on a mission to see the world before I am physically unable to do so. My disease seems to be progressing further by the day .

My husband and I packed up everything, ended our lease and set off to experience the amazing things the world has to offer. Because we are on the road constantly, my husband is not able to be employed. I receive a supplemental income from the state but it is not very much.

We are asking for donations to support my adventures, or even just to share this page in hopes that my story will reach many more people. Any and all donations or shares will be very much appreciated. If you have any ideas on what I should do next I would love to hear them.

Thank you so much to everyone that reads this, shares this, or donates!
