The parents of Steven Krzewski are seeking donations to purchase an ipad for him, which will serve as a learning tool and an AAC device.

Steve and I have seen and heard so much about how ipads help children with Autism. We want Little Steve to have a voice, and would love to present him with this learning tool for his fourth birthday. Anyone who sees the pictures we post, or sees my stories online can see that he's quite the inquisitive little guy. All Steve and I want is for Little Steve to have the best launch possible into his life. At this point in time, due to my inability to work and Steve's financial responsibilities covering more than just this household, simply buying an ipad is out of the question. We need help, and more than anything we want to help Steven. He goes into his second year of school this year, but Steve and I realize that it's going to take more than just the hours spent at school to help him.

The ipad can help Steven learn his colors, numbers and shapes. But it can do so much more than that. It can be an AAC device, something that can help him talk to us, if he is never able to speak on his own. Just look up Carly Fleischmann, and her struggles on American Airlines just recently. Carly is autistic too, she has apraxia, and she uses her ipad to speak. With an ipad, Steven would be able to do more than just cry and open the fridge, he could learn to tell us what food other than chicken nuggets he would like to eat. Steven could tell us if he doesn't feel good, and where it hurts. Some children with autism struggle with fine motor skills, and sign language is difficult. We are both learning and teaching Steven sign language, but what if he cannot get his fingers to show us what he needs? What if he could press a picture on the screen and say his head or his tummy hurts?

An ipad would open up a world of learning, not to mention communication for Steven. We are not asking for huge donations, just whatever you might be able to spare. Everyone is feeling the pinch these days, but if we help each other, it might make things easier. I want Steven to give back to the world someday. Can you help us to help him? Steve and I know a lot of people. If they all donated a few dollars, we'd hit our goal with no problem. Please help. Thanks in advance.
