Lets all team together to ensure the brightest future available for everybody's best friend Garrett.

Garrett is a vivacious 6 year old that has battled with Junior Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Scoliosis for the past two years. Despite the ailments he your typical boy, he loves to play inside of his fort, if you are up for the challenge he will show his skills with Super Mario, the coolest rockstar I know he will tear a living room up with his vocals and dance moves, there is no stopping the boy. We all are inspired by his zest for life and it is painful to watch him hurt, the one thing that tears at my heart the most is something that most children take for granted. Garrett's pain mainly effects his hips and legs preventing him from taking part in the one thing that all children should have a chance to do, ride a bike.

His mother Starr is the strongest woman I know never failing to keep her head up and smile when times are tough, but yesterday the family received more bad news. Garrett has been diagnosed with another skeletal disease known as Perthes Disease.

Perthes Disease is believed to be caused by lack of blood flow to the ball of the hip resulting in death of the bone and causing the bone to collapse. As if the two previous stated problems were not enough on everybody, Garrett will now have to undergo surgery to correct this problem.

Starr is a single mother who carries private health insurance with a very high deductible, until that deductible is met her expenses come out of pocket. The time and patience it takes to care for Garrett takes a toll on her work week as well, having to call off due to several doctors appointments, leaving work early because Garrett is in pain at school, and now having to take a substantial leave of absence while Garrett recovers from surgery.

The financial burden is a heavy weight to bear, but together we stand strong, please remember that any little bit helps, even if it just words of encouragement. I will make sure to update everyone in support on the status of our favorite man. If you would prefer to send a check you may email me at KayLoree@email.phoenix.edu for further instructions.

I wish to one day see Garrett ride down the road on his bike, free from pain and worry, but until then your prayers and donations keep this family strong. Thank you and God bless.
