The Bill J Adams IV Regatta and Endowment Fund & Regatta is raising money for Camperships to families would cannot afford but would benefit from sending their children to Camp SeaGull and Seafarer.

Camp SeaGull is truly an amazing place!  I spent two summer as a Counselor their during college and feel privileged to have been a part of such a wonderful organization.   SeaGull and Seafarer truly focus on character building of young people unlike any other camp I know.  The correlations to life on the sea, learning how to sail, and the changing winds with the changing winds of life, strikes a chord with nearly all that are present on their grounds.  For all of the negative things that exist in this world, SeaGull is a respite in the storm, where kids can be kids, boys can be boys, girls can be girls.  This event is raising money for those who cannot afford to send their children to Seagull & Seafarer by their own means.  There is a lot of money to up-keep a fleet of sail and motor boats, let alone all of the other facilities.  I encourage all of you to read the description below and think back to the summers of your youth and help to make the dreams that you have today a reality for children tomorrow.  Cheers!

The Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer mission can only be achieved with the philanthropic support of people who believe it is important. Inspired by the Camp founders, Wyatt and Lil Taylor, Camp Sea Gull, since 1948 and Camp Seafarer, since 1961, have achieved excellence through the support of a dedicated community of parents, staff, alumni and friends.

We believe that everyone benefits from a more diverse Camp community. Our philanthropic mission, therefore, is to make the Sea Gull and Seafarer experience possible for children from all financial communities. Thanks to generous support, children from diverse geographical, cultural, religious, and economic backgrounds will leave Sea Gull and Seafarer more confident and appreciative of others. Working side-by- side with parents, we can better prepare children for their future.

Each year Camp Sea Gull and Seafarer are able to award direct financial assistance to more than 250 children. The recipients represent families who have the greatest need as well as middle income families who may need to stretch their existing dollars to bridge a small but difficult gap.

About the William J. Adams IV Endowment

An outstanding camper, counselor, and administrative staff member, Bill Adams practically grew up at Camp Sea Gull. The character development that took place and the leadership skills that Bill learned at camp were a big part of the adult he became. In the summer of 2003, Bill Adams passed away unexpectedly. After receiving many meaningful contributions honoring Bill's life, His family: Bill III, Sarah, and Emily Adams Livingston, requested that the Camps establish an endowment to fund scholarships for campers who apply for financial aid at Sea Gull and Seafarer. The endowment continues to grow thanks to annual contributions and events such as the William J. Adams IV Regatta. More than 20 campers have been awarded the camperships through the William J. Adams IV Endowment, and as the funds continue to grow, more and more deserving children will be able to attend Sea Gull and Seafarer. As one of Bill’s friends said, “What made him such a likeable person was that he was always happy.” This endowment makes it possible for Bill to continue to spread happiness to deserving children and their families.
