Our mission is to help match the visually impaired driver find services to maintain their vehicles, allowing them to keep jobs.

The Driving Forward Foundation is an Arizona 501C3 nonprofit organization designed to assist the visually impaired and legally blind, who now drive, or are eligible to drive, and to find the services they need to help maintain and service their vehicles.

On or about 2008 a company called “Ocutech” developed bi-optic lenses for driving. These glasses helped our founder to return to a 20/30 driving vision allowing him to begin driving again after 15 years. It is by getting these glasses, and other assistive aids, into the hands of our clients that will help in returning many of them into working, productive members of society.

Our founder, Terry Kennedy, went legally blind at the age of thirty. He was able to get back to driving in 2007 with the bi-optic driving glasses. Terry comes to us with a wide background in fields such as Aerospace, Law Enforcement, Retail Management and Commercial Insurance.

Our mission is to help match the visually impaired driver find services to maintain their vehicles at discounted rates or free when available. This will allow them to keep jobs and be safe on the road.

Most recently our country has hit a serious financial crisis, and the state of Arizona was named the country’s second poorest state in September 2010. What this means for those who are legally blind and visually impaired, is that little to no State or Federal funds are available for assisting with auto repairs, adaptive devices such as the bi-optic glasses for driving, driving lessons or assistance with finding a vehicle.

It only takes your donation, whether big or small, to help us to continue our work. Our mission statement reads “Yes, we are our brother’s keeper”. Please help us to continue moving forward.
