The family and friends of Tegan Beyer are uniting to raise money to help with her battle against breast cancer. Please show your support!

On June 6, 2012 Tegan received a life changing phone call. Her doctor told her that she had cancer, and she would have to stop breast feeding immediately. Her daughter was only four and half months old. She was devastated because she wanted to breast feed her child until she self weaned. The next day she met with the doctor. He told her she had a very aggressive invasive ductal carcinoma stage 2a grade 3 breast cancer, and that aggressive treatment should start immediately.
Since then vigorous testing, meeting with doctors and research has commenced. We're getting second and third opinions, meeting with more doctors, more tests. A bilateral mastectomy is scheduled for July 12. Chemotherapy will start as soon as she's healed from the surgery. After the chemotherapy is concluded Tegan will undergo reconstruction of her breasts. This is the tentative plan depending on outcomes of testing. Battling cancer has become a full time job besides taking care of her babies, Talon almost 4 years old and Joslyn only 5 months old.
Tegan is in the 1 percentile of women who are diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or immediately post partum. Her surgery will commence while her daughter is going through the fastest developmental stages of her life. For weeks she'll be unable to pick up her daughter when her baby needs her the most. They will need child care whenever Josh is at work to tend to her and the children. Soon she'll be unable to carry her, cosleep, or even change her cloth diaper. This is any mother's nightmare, especially a mother who believes in extended breast feeding. Tegan will lose the organs that nourished both of her babies.
Besides being unable to tend to her children, she won't be able to do her job of 16 years as a tattoo artist after her surgeries for quite some time. Perhaps she'll be unable to even work through chemotherapy because we don't know how her body will react to the treatment. As a self employed artist, Tegan isn't qualified to collect any state benefits such as unemployment or disability. Her family depends on her income to survive.
Tegan and the Beyer family need your help. Feel free to read her updates on her blog at www.talesofatattoomom.blogspot.com Please give as much and as often as you can so this family can stay afloat during this time of need. Anything and everything is greatly appreciated.
