Family and friends of Lindsey Roberts are uniting to raise money to help with her battle against Idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis.

Lindsey has touched many lives over time with her outgoing personality, kindness and professional dedication as a Respiratory Therapist. Her battle, with five operations as a controlling effort for retroperitoneal fibrosis, diagnosed in 2011, has left Lindsey and her two children in an economic situation. With the battle of future operations to maintain a somewhat of a normal life, this single mother has always extended a heart of gold towards everyone she comes in contact with. We have always been very proud of Lindsey and her children. As we all know, you can judge a parent by the achievements made in the raising of their kids. Academics, sports and school functions are the principle focus when it comes to parenting in Lindsey’s life. Lindsey was born in November 24, 1980. A child with a hardheaded approach to every effort made. Once she put her mind to something she made it happen. She will never give up on life and her children and will always have a smile for anyone she meets. On May 7th, Lindsey had nephrostomy tubes placed in both kidneys. These are tubes to allow her to urinate in bags until the next major operation in June. Just because Lindsey is Lindsey, the day after the operation, she made every effort to pull herself up and get back to work and keep her kids in a normal family atmosphere. On June 14th, Lindsey will undergo a major 6-10 hour operation to help control this disorder. This effort will place her out of work for at least 6 weeks to recuperate. With family and friends, we will be by her side through the whole ordeal. Her pride has never been compromised, her dedication never wavered, but there comes a time when family and friends have to ask for assistance for her. Please take a moment and give what you can give. Donate a little something to get her through this. Your understanding and the funds will be used for Lindsey’s medical costs and related expenses not covered by insurance. We do believe in miracles and we pray for one each day.
If you would prefer to mail a check, you may do so in Lindsey’s name and send to: Lindsey’s Relief Fund, PO Box 204, Fort Madison, IA 52627
If you have any questions or would like to speak to a family representative please feel free to call: Rachael Roberts at 319-371-6483.

The thanks given can't be expressed in so many words. Your thoughtfulness is over whelming.

The procedure at University Of Iowa went rather well. The surgeon that preformed the procedure had only done this type operation (not to this extent) two times. So I believe he had a little practice and I wasn’t presented as a guinea pig.
The procedure entailed Robotic Ureterolysis, Retroperitoneal Biopsy, and Omental Wrap for the Treatment of Ureteral Obstruction due to Idiopathic Retroperitoneal Fibrosis Retroperitoneal Fibrosis (RPF) is a rare disorder of unclear etiology.
It’s characterized by chronic inflammation of the retroperitoneum, which can involve any of the retroperitoneal.
structures, most notably the urethras, aorta, and vena cava.
In terms to understand if your not in the medical field. Diopathic means it just showed up with no reason. Retroperitoneum meaning: The belly area more near the back. I had this surgery in hopes it will help to not block my kidneys off. I am still at risk for blood clots since it has encased my common iliac artery and it has also attached its self to my small bowl. I have to walk around every so often as to keep the blood flowing. Neither of these has caused any problems yet. I have a lot to be grateful for. Some people aren't diagnosed until it has done permanent damage to the kidneys and this is because it’s so rare.
My family and friends have been by my side threw out the whole ordeal and I couldn’t ask for any better treatment. Damion and Trinity are holding up good and are true troopers. The amount of time I have to give to this endeavor has really placed a drain on everyone. I can not express the gratitude I have received and I am so blessed to have what I have. My stress level has eased a little with all your support and my deep desire to stay in my home is in a clearer mind frame. I have worked to hard to loose everything I have fought for and I can only thank everyone for the help. Thank you very much. May God bless all of you.
