Major college football needs a playoff. Let the world know that you demand that the sport adopt a playoff system to determine its champion by donating $1 to this fundraiser. Donations will benefit The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Major college football (officially referred to as the Football Bowl Subdivision--or F.B.S.) is the only major sport that does not use an end of the season playoff system to crown its champion. Instead, it relies on a method largely based on computer rankings, a media poll, and a coaches poll to choose two teams to play for the national title. This method is, of course, known as the B.C.S. (Bowl Championship Series).

We believe that the B.C.S. is ineffective, exclusive and unfair.

The B.C.S. is ineffective because it can and has resulted in undefeated teams not having a chance to play in the national title game.

The B.C.S. is ineffective because it has resulted in a split national title, the very issue it was created to remedy.

The B.C.S. is exclusive because teams from non-B.C.S. conferences have finished the season undefeated but have been denied the chance to play for a national title.

The B.C.S. is unfair to the fans and players. The players have a right to decide the national title on the field. And the fans have a right to watch the national title decided on the field, not within the depths of a complicated, secret mathematical formula. The B.C.S. unfairly denies the fans and players their rights.

If you agree that major college needs a playoff system, show your support by donating just $1 to this fundraiser. Your $1 donation will count as a "vote" for a playoff system.

The goal is to collect 1 million dollars or "votes" by 12/31/2010 and to present that money to the V Foundation for Cancer Research on behalf of the fans of major college football.

Such a donation hopes to garner the national attention needed to push the NCAA to implement an F.B.S. playoff system.
