Please help support April Horton (young mother of a 4 month old) through the tragic accident that has left her paralyzed.

On May 2012 at approx 9:00 PM, April Horton life was changed. She was involved in a serious car accident that caused the car that she was a passenger in to collide with a truck. The impact was so hard that April was thrown out of the car. Her body was thrown into the truck that struck the vehicle she was riding in. Her body hit so hard that it left a body print indented into the side of the truck. As April lay in the street she said that she felt like half of a person. She had no feeling from the waist down. April is 20 and a single mother of a 4 month old baby girl. As she lay in the street, her only thoughts where about her daughter and trying to stay alive so she could raise her child. Fortunately, April lived through the accident but her spinal cord was snapped leaving her a paraplegic.

Prior to this, April worked for a drug store in Breckenridge, Texas and was struggling to make ends meet to support her and her daughter. It is hard to understand all the financial issues that are associated with being a paraplegic but they are overwhelming. April’s only support system is her father who has quit his job to stay with April in the hospital and will continue to stay with her as she learns to deal with the everyday struggles of being a paraplegic. Due to their financial situation they will be moving to Paris Texas to stay with her grandparents. The living conditions are less than assessable and so her ability to become independent will be very very difficult.

The purpose for writing this is to try and raise money to assist her and her father through this very difficult time. Being in a wheelchair the rest of your life is not just about the inability to walk, there are so many financial burdens that need to be addressed in order to become independent. Doors to bathrooms and closets need to be widened, Ramps need to be built to get over any entrance threshold within the home, her vehicle needs to be fitted with expensive hand controls and not to mention the overwhelming medical expenses for proper care. Thanks for your support and god bless you.
