This is an attempt to further raise funds that would assist in the medical payments for an amazing service dog, our German Shepherd, Fred.

Fred, our 3 year old German Shepherd, has been with us his whole life. And up until his accident he has asked nothing of us, he has been the best dog we could have ever asked for. He is a seizure alert/response dog for our 10 year old son Benjamin, who suffers from epilepsy. Ben and Fred are inseparable, they are the ideal example of a boy and his best friend. As we continued our research into Ben's epilepsy we kept entertaining the idea of a service dog for him. He has always loved dogs and they have always been very gentle and different around him. For Ben's seventh birthday we surprised him with Fred and they immediately fell in love. And after 18 months of training and thousands of dollars in fees, Fred was ready to be Ben's guardian.

Three weeks ago we were all walking with Fred through our neighborhood. At an intersection we started to cross the street when an unknown person on a dirt bike ran the stop sign. Right in front of us, right in front of Benjamin, our amazing dog was hit by this motorcyclist. The person on the bike almost crashed, turned back and looked at us, and then drove away and never was found. We could care less about the fact that they were never caught, we just want to save our dog Fred. We rushed him to an emergency vet who managed to stabilize him and treat Fred for his injuries. Fred sustained multiple broken ribs, his right lung had collapsed, severe lacerations, internal bleeding, and minor fractured pelvis.

He was on an IV and oxygen up until a few days ago, and will be on pain medication for a very long time. He is still going to be staying at the vet, and we aren't sure when we will be able to get him home. The vet bill is already approaching $11,000, and although we have managed to pay some of it we are struggling to pay the rest.

We can't give up on Fred, he is a very important part of our family. He is our son's savior and guardian angel, and we can't let him go. The veterinarian said he will be able to recover and we are hoping it will be a full recovery. Ben needs his best friend back, there is no other dog for us. If you have ever had a dog in your family you know how much they can love you, so please show Fred some love back.

I am so grateful for this website and for whoever takes the time to read this, I will appreciate anything and everything you can give. I am Jerry, my wife is Patricia, and our son is Benjamin, and we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
