An art student trying to start a new life without the burdens of obesity.

Hello to anyone who ends up at my fundraiser page. My name is Sean, and I'm extremely happy that you're taking the time out of your busy day to read this. I am 31 years old and in college full time working towards my Bachelors of Animation in Nashville. I am a funny, caring and pretty shy guy who is always willing to help other people. Unfortunately, I'm severely unhappy and just want to feel normal. I want to walk in a room and not feel like everyone is staring at and making jokes about me. I want to be able to walk across campus without running out of breath and having pain throughout my body. I would love to get the LapBand surgery at Baptist Hospital here in Nashville.

I have been obese my entire life, and it has been a tremendous struggle every day. Doing the most simple daily tasks is a struggle for me -- including, but not limited to putting on socks. I am not the kind of person who gorges on food at every meal and washes it down with a 3L coke. I try to diet, but nothing seems to work. Exercise is almost impossible due to physical limitations from the excess weight. I'm constantly drained of energy and fight depression on a daily basis to not drop out of school. I've been fighting this alone my entire life, but finally realize that I need help.

I don't have any close relationships with my family outside of my mother, who is a full-time teacher and lives check to check herself. She wants so much to help me, but is within two years of retiring with nothing more than social security, and I just can't let her do it alone. Despite the seriousness of my situation, I have nobody to ask for help. I know my case is not as immediately life-threatening as some of the horrible stories here, but please don't overlook me because of that. Obesity is linked directly to numerous fatal issues that I want nothing more than to avoid.
