Family and friends are uniting to help raise money for Randy Westmoreland's fight to win his battle with colorectal cancer. Please join us.

Our sweet daddy, love of our mother's life, highschool sweathearts married for 43 years, loveable granddaddy to three with another precious one on his way, Randy Westmoreland was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in October 2005. Surgeons removed part of his colon and now he has a permanent colostomy. Doctors believed there was no need for chemo at the time due to 16 clear lymph nodes. Three years later , in November of 2008, we were given the devastating news that the cancer had returned and had metastasized to the lymph nodes in the soft tissue up and down his spine as well as to other areas and eventually to his lungs. Doctors told him that even with chemo, he had 12-18 months to live.

Our brave daddy has been enduring chemotherapy every two weeks for the past 3 1/2 years, fighting a courageous and valiant battle. The eternal optimist, his mantra has always been, "God is going to heal me. I am going to beat this." Even when he was told by his oncologist in January that there were no more chemo drugs that could be given and nothing else could be done, our daddy continued to hold on to hope and faith that God has a miracle for him.

At that point our wonderful mother, Wanda, our father's greatest advocate, began tirelessly searching on the internet for a clinical trial. Three weeks ago he was the first patient to enter a new clinical trial, at Emory Winship Cancer Institute, that is a different kind of drug therapy never tried with colon cancer. If successful, it could be a big break-through for colon cancer patients. A weekly regimen of chemo, with some weeks requiring 4 days of treatment and care, is a round trip of 166 miles for Daddy.

After 3 1/2 years of enormous medical bills, loss of income due to disability, and the added expenses of travel and treatment at Winship Cancer Institute at Emory, our parents have exhausted all financial resources. They are now in jeopardy of losing their home. Not only has this cancer wreaked total havoc on our parents' lives physically and emotionally, but the financial devastation has been ruthless as well.

Please help us help them pay their bills and keep their home. The trauma of losing their home during this fragile time would be too much to bear, although our mother says the only important thing to her is keeping our daddy alive and getting him well. Thanks in advance for all of your support, prayers, and well wishes. They are appreciated beyond measure! Blessings to all!
