Help for Maho
Family and friends are uniting to raise money to help Maho.
As many of you know Maho was diagnosed earlier this year with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a progressive, degenerative brain disease that gradually destroys the ability to behave appropriately, empathize with others, learn, reason, make judgments, communicate and carry out daily activities.
His sister, Hulya, has been caring for Maho, first in her home and now visiting him daily in the hospital and sharing health information between our family and Maho's doctors. A former preschool teacher, she is now providing round the clock care for Maho and wants very much to create an environment that is safe and free from stress in his final years of life.
It is difficult to know, just how much our brother understands and can make sense of in the world around him. What remains to be done is to provide the best quality of life possible during the time he has left.
Our hope is to take him back to our native village, Erzincan, in Turkey, while he is still healthy enough to travel. Once there, our mother and sisters will assist with his care.
We are hopeful that we will be able to cover the cost of his care using a combination of his disability payments and help from family and friends. We have been taking on much of the financial responsibility ourselves but it’s not something that is sustainable over a long period of time.
This is where you can help. Any donated amount will make a difference. We want to thank you all for the words of encouragement and support you've given us during this difficult time.
Please send any cards or well wishes to Zeki & Danica's home address.
We very much appreciate your support, love and prayers!
