Family and friends of the Vera family need your help and support to raise money for Thomas Vera's memorial services.
Thomas Vera was a patient at UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest, CA where he was being treated for severe head trauma. On Monday May 27th at 600 AM, Thomas, disoriented and unaware of his surroundings, wearing a hospital gown and c-collar, walked out of the hospital, seemingly unnoticed by hospital staff. Friends and family searched the neighborhood and handed out fliers in search of Thomas to no avail. Detectives on the missing persons case waited till Thursday night, after consistent pleading of his son, Antonio, to check surveillance videos and learned that Thomas had wandered right into a nearby canyon. After this discovery, an extensive search including canines and helicopters began. By Friday afternoon, after the search and rescue team rappelled deep into the rough terrain of the canyon, they discovered Thomas's body, deep under the brush. He was not even one mile from the hospital. Apathy lead to tragedy in this case and now the grieving family, already having to cope with such tragedy, must face another obstacle: The family is suffering from financial hardship and does not have the funds necessary to give their beloved husband and father a respectable memorial service. Please show your support by donating to the Thomas Vera Memorial Service Fund and help this family in their time of grief and despair.
