Glenn has Ankylosing Spondilitis. A type of Rheumatoid Arthritis causing debilitating pain. He wants to explore how it is treated in Europe.

For Glenn, suffering with Ankylosing Spondilitis, the American medical treatment for this diagnosis is a range of medications containing methotrexate that work by surpressing the immune system. As a result of the lowered immune system it leaves him open to an increased risk of cancer, lymphoma and other life threatening infections. It is not a healthy medicine though it can and probably will reduce the pain. This is not something he wants even though our insurance covers it.  These injectable medicines are an avenue that Glenn has chosen not  to explore.

In Europe, specifically in the Gastein region of Austria there are "healing" caves that have the inert gas radon for which people travel from around the world to be treated by radon therapy and hyperthermia (105°F)  It is run by medical doctors and is a scientific treatment plan using short term exposure to radon.

* See links below for full scientific explanation, but in short, the radon, in proper doses returns the body to a state of immuno-homeostasis.  There are medical professionals in the US that understand the use of radon therapy, but in the US (in Montana) the only place in US that has caves like this, the caves are not run by doctors and the exposure is not regulated.

*Click on this link to explain.  A video is worth a thousand words!!!

*For those that would rather read about it

Unfortunately unlike Europe, our insurance plans do not cover this. In Europe, insurance pays for this as an accepted medical treatment plan.

Glenn's pain is more difficult to manage each day. The 3 weeks of medical treatment is approximately $1500. It includes:

10 trips to the caves (1 hour each inside the cave) plus doctor check ups before and after

18 treatments are included including a combination of acupuncture, massage, physical therapy, in addition to 3 - 90 min educational seminars on Ankylosing Spondilitis.

The balance is for the air, train, hotel and meals. Though it is less money for 2 weeks the reality is, since the larger expense is the trip, it makes sense to get the maximum benefit.

Between now and Dec 15th I will hold 3 events...Dates are coming...
