Help LOH improve the indoor arena lighting and save on its energy bills. Let's brighten up everyone's winter riding!

Help LOH raise the funds needed to have new, enery-efficient lights installed in the indoor arena.

When we received a bid for upgrading the lighting in the barn, it included an estimate for upgrading our arena lights. The stabling lights were funded by our Historic Preservation Fee assessment -- a big thank you to all who contributed! -- but we did not have enough money leftover to tackle the arena lights at the same time.

The new arena lights will have the following advantages over the current arena lighting:
1. Much lower energy consumption -- saving LOH on its electricity bill every month.
2. Instant on -- No more waiting ten minutes for the arena lights to come on.
3. Better light -- More like daylight and with improved lighting in the corners.
4. Motion sensor with automatic shut-off -- No more having to enter the club room (with your horse?) to turn on the lights or to turn them off. If the lights are off and someone enters the arena, the lights will immediately switch on, much like the barn lights. This will also save LOH a considerable amount on its electrical bills.

The estimate from Tri-Phase Electric for the arena lights is still valid and that project is still eligible for Energy Trust of Oregon rebates, but only until the end of the year. As soon as we have the funding for this project, Katie will get the work scheduled.

Note: Feel free to contribute using this online fundraising site. Or, drop off a check at LOH directly and have the entire amount of your contribution go toward the project. (Funds donated through this site have a 7% processing overhead.)

With Daylight Savings Time approaching an end, let's take advantage of the rebates and enjoy superior lighting for the entire winter. This fundraiser ends on November 4th, the same day that Daylight Savings Time will end this year.

Thank you for contributing to this important project!
