The family of Nancy McLarry are uniting to raise money to help with her battle against Breast Cancer.
Nancy was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 Breast Cancer in November 2010. She also has metastatic lung cancer – in other words, her breast cancer has traveled to her lung. During the end of 2010 and through the first part of 2011, Nancy underwent a very aggressive chemotherapy regimen to shrink the size of the tumor in her left breast. Christmas 2010 was not the same, but everyone was thankful that the tumor was caught in time to treat it. As a result of this aggressive treatment, the spot on her lung had disappeared and the tumor in her left breast had become small enough to undergo mastectomy surgery. The process left Nancy very weak and also took not only her left breast, but all of her hair.
In April 2011, Nancy underwent the mastectomy surgery – removing her left breast and her lymph nodes; which was not without complication. Immediately following her surgery, she was very pale and very weak and was not feeling well. The following day, it was noticed that she was very swollen. When the surgeon examined her, it was found that she had been bleeding internally since the initial surgery on the previous day. The surgeon was able to go back in and stop the bleeding
Nancy then had to begin radiation treatment. After several rounds of radiation, she endured 3rd degree burns to her body.
At the end of 2011, Nancy made the decision to have reconstructive surgery in order to feel whole again. She now had all of her hair back and her left breast.
Shortly after her surgery, she found out she had another spot that had mestasized to her lung. Her oncologist was not overly concerned about it, and wanted to watch it. After several months, the tumor had grown and Nancy found out she had to undergo chemotherapy treatments again. Nancy has been undergoing these treatments and was informed last month that they are not working. The tumor on her lung is not shrinking. Due to this, and since she is stage 4, she cannot undergo radiation and is not a candidate for surgery. The doctors have told her that she has to remain on chemotherapy for the rest of her life.
In order to undergo these weekly chemo treatments, Nancy has had to reduce to part-time at her job. She has to drive 30 miles every Thursday to the nearest cancer treatment center. She also has to pay a co-pay every week. She then has to drive back to the cancer treatment center every Friday for an injection before driving to work, which is 60 miles North of the treatment center. In addition to these weekly treatments, Nancy has prescriptions to help aid with her cancer treatment as well as prescriptions for thyroid and high blood pressure issues.

Not only has Nancy dealt with cancer treatments in the past year and a half, but she also had emergency gallbladder surgery and is now fighting pneumonia.

In order to try to keep up with house payments, medical bills, travel expenses, monthly bills, and daily living expenses, Nancy’s husband, Greg, is currently working two jobs. Nancy is doing her best at her job working part-time, but sometimes has to miss due to side effects from the cancer treatments. Nancy does have private insurance through her work, however there are many scans and tests that insurance does not pay for, as well as the weekly co-pays.
This battle has drained Nancy and Greg both mentally, physically, and financially. Nancy is in the battle of her life right now and the mounting medical bills are a worry we would like to take away from her. We can't change this disease, but we can change how we fight it!
Thank you all for your donations, support and most importantly prayers. We do believe in miracles and we pray for one each day.
