SUPPORT Rick Alexander.... The funds will be use for Rick's medical cost and living expenses. Please show your support!!!!

Please help assist with medical cost not covered by insurance and daily living expenses to alleviate the financial burden to help Rick fight this fight.

I am Hattie Alexander. This fundraiser is for my husband Walter Ricardo Alexander (aka Rick). I love him very much and care for him deeply. Rick is a lovely wonderful husband and grandfather. He is the father to 3 adult children (Demetria, Ricardo, Kendrick) and the grandfather to 2 grandsons Chrisdeon 15, Maurice 12 and a granddaughter Taylor 2.

Rick has always being very outgoing and very active in his community and in the church. He is a 1973 graduate of McKinley Tech High School in Washington, DC. For several years, he played semipro football. He also coached semipro football along with coaching high school football, girls’ basketball and softball for over 32 years. He has been a Pastor for many years. He loves teaching and preaching God’s word. His motto is helping the youth of today’s society and the people of the community. He has been a mentor and a positive roll model to many young people and to date still mentoring.

Three years ago Rick ruptured his achilles’ tendon in his left leg. When the surgeon went in to repair his achilles’ tendon, it was so mangled to beyond repair. It had to be removed. Rick was hospitalized for about 3 weeks. After coming home, he was bed confined for about six month, then in a wheelchair for about 2 years. He then went to a walker and just had started walking with a cane. A year and a half ago, Rick coached high school football for an entire football season in a wheel chair at Warren County High School while still battling with the achilles’s tendon problem. In late April 2012, he got ulcers on the bottom of the left foot that resulted in having his left leg amputate on July 5, 2012 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC. His medical expenses are constantly growing higher. I got laid off in October 2011. At the present time, I am unable to work because I am Rick's caregiver. Rick is home and doing well but he still has lots of medical needs and care. Rick is a dialysis patient with kidney failure. He is also in need of a kidney transplant. Rick has been in and out of the hospital at Duke University Hospital several times over the past several years. He is a strong man of faith. He still preach and teach God’s word every chance he gets. His goal is to get a prosthetic so he can walk again and to get a kidney transplant. Rick said he is looking forward to standing and walking with me, playing with our grandchildren, getting back active in the community working with the youth and preaching.

The donations will be used to help pay for a prosthetic, medical needs, kidney transplant, medical bills and help with daily living expenses since Rick and I are on a limited income. Please keep Rick in your prayers. We need all your support and prayers to help us stay physically and mentally powerful during this difficult time.
