We are all trying any way we can to raise funds & awareness about what has happened to Leilani. All help is truly appreciated.

On Nov 25th 2009 My wife Leilani and i walked into the hospital for scheduled heart valve repair surgery. Before all of this we were the most happiest couple you could ever imagine. Always together and we were still like teenager's in love even after 22 years. This was the 1st surgery she has ever had. It was a corrective operation that was supposed to help give her a long & healthy future life with no further procedures other than follow-ups. So instead of being released in the standard 3 - 5 days along with 4-6wks of out patient rehab the next morning she ended up on Life Support in a Coma with massive brain swelling & suffered 2 massive strokes. She never woke up from the initial surgery and emergency brain surgery had to be performed to save her life and she was given very little chance for survival. Without the brain surgery to release the swelling she would have died within 24-48hrs.The Doctor’s said they don't know what happened, but did say it was a tragedy and that they were truly sorry of the outcome.
With the grace of God, she did come out of the coma 2 months later on Jan 25th 2010 and is slowly recovering. Leilani is now able to speak and move her right hand , but the rest of her limbs still have no movement. Her eyesight along with long term and short term memory continues to improve. The facility she is in called CareMeridian believes that she has a very good chance of recovery since she came out of the coma so soon. Therapist's work with her 10hrs a week along with the daily rehab i give on top of that. We are doing all that we can to try and bring her back to the woman she once was and still can be. I've not missed one single day being with her since all of this and will never give up on bringing her home someday. She gave to other's her whole life... family , friends , neighbors, stranger's etc..... and now it's our turn to give back to her.

We continue to face our biggest challenge, paying for my wife's 24hr care needs. The daily cost of care is quite high and our insurance & finances have pretty much run out and we can't afford to keep her in a facility where she is getting the greatest care and showing the most improvement. She is no where near ready to come home and will need to stay where she is for atleast another 2-3 years to have a fighting chance to be the woman she once was. If you are able to help us gain support for Leilani's daily care , we will be forever grateful.
