I live in a small village and we do no have wheelchair taxi's or public transit. Getting a vechicl equiped for wheelchair will fix that.

I am writing to you to ask for your help to get a wheelchair adapted vehicle so I can drive again. I am a 37 year old man living on single income. In 1997, at the age 22, I was paralyzed in a car accident / c-5 quadriplegic our designated drive had hydroplaned and crashed. I kept my head held high and dealt with each obstacle I encountered being in a wheelchair. I started to gain my independence back bit by bit. I accepted being in a wheelchair, but I did not want to accept not being able to drive or being stuck in a home. Finally, in 2007, with a lot of hard work and determination I achieved that goal. After 10 years of relying on others to drive me where I needed to go I was once again able to drive myself. This new sense of independence made me feel proud of what I had accomplished in my 10 years in a wheelchair. With no vehicle it feels like house arrest for the innocent. I just want to be a part of my community again and right now I feel left out. Being in a wheelchair is hard enough but it shouldn’t be this hard.
I can get a vehicle, but I cannot afford the necessary modifications that will allow me to drive such as: zero effort steering, electronic gas/break and a wheelchair lift. (approx. $50,000.00) . This is why I am asking for your help.
I really hope you can help, or even pass my letter on to someone you think may be able to. I would be so grateful to get your reply and even more so to get my independence back. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you and I truly appreciate any help you may have to offer me.
